Talent Acquisition/ HR Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and driven HR Specialist to join our growing team. This role combines a significant range of HR functions with full-cycle recruiting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on HR generalist experience in onboarding, payroll coordination, HRIS administration, compliance, and employee relations, along with a strong background in sourcing and hiring top talent and supporting HR initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources

Lead new hire onboarding and orientation, including first-day HR training, new hire paperwork, I-9 verification, and system setup, so new employees transition smoothly into the company.

Coordinate payroll processing with HR/payroll systems (e.g., Paychex Flex, Paycom). This includes timekeeping review, employee changes, and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Administer the HRIS, including user permissions, time and attendance configuration, and employee record accuracy.

Maintain complete, confidential personnel files for all employees in line with record-retention requirements.

Support benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and carrier coordination.

Handle employee relations matters, including receiving complaints, conducting or assisting with investigations, and documenting outcomes.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including required postings, reporting, and audit documentation.

Interpret and apply company policies and the employee handbook, and recommend updates as practices or laws change.

Draft and distribute employee communications, such as policy updates, benefit announcements, and company-wide HR notices.

Support leave administration, PTO tracking, and offboarding, including exit processes and final documentation.

Support HR functions such as employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and company culture events.

Ensure all recruiting and HR activities align with company values, policies, and legal standards.

Talent Acquisition

Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and extending offers.

Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create effective recruitment strategies.

Develop creative sourcing methods through social media, job boards, networking, and employee referrals.

Maintain and update ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and candidate pipelines.

Participate in workforce planning and diversity hiring initiatives.

Maintain accurate recruiting metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.

Required Skills/Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field required.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification required.

At least 7-10 years of experience in sourcing talent using the Internet, including advanced search strings, power searching, and deep research.

SHRM's Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential

HR generalist experience (onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits, employee relations, complaints/investigation, or compliance)

Experience with payroll and HRIS platforms (Paychex Flex, Paycom, or similar), including system administration.

Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.

Proficient with HRIS/ATS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience recruiting/sourcing for sales, contact center telesales, and marketing agency roles.

Experience with high-volume recruiting.

Experience with targeted networking, including a demonstrated ability to leverage blogs and chat rooms to find the right information quickly.

Strong Internet savvy, including knowledge of where to look and how to leverage the nuances of different job boards and search engines.

A proven ability to develop and execute a sourcing strategy to find resumes and generate names, including experience with Advanced Boolean Internet searching and Power searching.

Experience and understanding of working in a high-growth environment.

Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing, tracking details, and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all organizational levels in the business community.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with aptitude in conducting interviews.

Thorough understanding of EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and other related employment laws and guidelines.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Solid business acumen and the ability to work independently

Solid research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Flexibility to handle multiple projects and a high volume of work with ever-changing priorities.

Previous experience recruiting for Marketing agency positions

Certified Internet Recruiter

Professional Recruiter Certification

Experience conducting workplace investigations and HR audits
